Ok, so I will be there and be part of the Jazz Singers. This is my first concert as a Jazz singers, so I’m really excited about the concert. I will sing as a bass and sometimes I sing bariton. So I’m really happy if you guys can come to the concert. I’m pretty sure that it would be a great concert.
Darryl Rowe’s profile:
Alabama native Darryl Rowe feels it is no great mystery why he ended up singing jazz: He loves jazz and has always been around it. As a member of the Alabama state Jazz Choir, Rowe became acquainted with an instructor from De Anza College in Cupertino Ca, where he sang with Colleges Jazz Singers. Darryl Rowe has won both the Pacific Coast and Fullerton Vocal Jazz awards for outstanding jazz performance. In 1992 the "Darryl Rowe Trio" was featured at the Monterey Jazz festival.
Darryl has been a presence in the San Francisco Bay area jazz scene for two decades, with appearances at Keystone Korner, the De Anza Hotel, Yoshi’s, and the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He has worked with Woody Herman, Dexter Gordon, Sergio Mendez, Bobby McFerrin, and Patrice Rushin. His voice moves easily from jazz standards to R&B and soul stylings.
We The People is a jazz project that brings together the talents of an interesting blend of musical characters, headed by the velvety tones of singer Darryl Rowe. Darryl was living in San Jose, California, when he was hired to share the stage with Roxanne in Aspen. He sang there in the winter of 1997-98, and began his friendship with Russian-American piano virtuoso Vlad Girshevich and double-bassist David Arend rounding out the group’s core, and their first recording entitled "We the People", features the sensitive swing of drummer Jason Lewis.
